Victory in Dental Medical Devices Patent Dispute: Invalidation Strategy Prevails
Release time:2026-04-16

Recently, the Guangzhou Intellectual Property Court issued Civil Ruling (2025) Yue 73 Zhi Min Chu No. 1384 in a patent infringement dispute involving dental medical devices. The case was filed by a Guangzhou-based medical technology company against Beijing Zhi’ai Hobit International Trading Co., Ltd. and South Korea’s ZIAE Co., Ltd., and the court granted the plaintiff’s motion for voluntary dismissal.

In this dispute, the plaintiff initiated patent infringement litigation against the two defendants based on its asserted patent. Retained jointly by both defendants, Caihe Law Firm assembled a specialized intellectual property team and devised a targeted combined strategy of patent invalidation and infringement defense, launching a patent invalidation proceeding against the patent-in-suit.

Through rigorous evidence preparation and comprehensive legal argumentation, the claims of the patent-in-suit were officially declared invalid, completely eliminating the legal basis of the plaintiff’s infringement claim. In light of this outcome, the plaintiff filed a motion to withdraw the lawsuit, which the court reviewed and approved accordingly.

The successful conclusion of the case, marked by the plaintiff’s voluntary dismissal, fully demonstrates Caihe Law Firm’s professional expertise in defending against patent infringement and handling patent invalidation matters. By adopting a fundamental invalidation strategy that strikes at the root of the opposing party’s patent rights, the firm effectively safeguarded the legitimate rights and interests of an overseas enterprise and its domestic distributor, setting a valuable practical precedent for resolving cross-border patent infringement disputes in the medical device industry.
